v4 on the 4th
The fourth attempt at Project BroadSword launches today, May 4, 2026, on the publication you are reading. Imperial Engineering is the documentation home for the design side of the build. Lester’s Lego is the wrapper around the publication. (I have some other stuff going on, so this had to slot into my bigger picture) The YouTube companion is ramping shortly. The Instagram social platform sits with Clone Brick Customs at @clonebrickcustoms, where the physical build runs and the reach lives.
The build itself is a minifigure-scale Venator-class Star Destroyer in lego, executed as a display variant with cutaway design language. The display is the public-facing build. Running beside it in private, a micro-scale prototype carries the structural lessons forward. Beneath that, terminal in scope, the true minifigure-scale model takes shape over time. Three scales, each feeding the others, each producing different deliverables for different purposes.
That is the build. The history runs four marks deep behind it.
The Four Marks
v1. Total scale mismatch.
Geometry killed it. The numbers I was working from did not produce a cohesive ship. The build collapsed before it earned its first major reveal. Scale calculation is the foundation everything else depends on. Get the numbers wrong, the rest of the ship cannot save the project.
v2. Complete section alignment failure with program crash.
A different wall this time. Sections that worked in isolation did not align across the full vessel. The digital model crashed under its own weight. Section design has to anticipate the whole ship from the first brick, not just the section’s own footprint.
v3. Life happened. Clone Brick Customs picked up the project.
No technical failure on this one. Life happened. I put the work down. The project survived because Clone Brick Customs picked it up and ran with it. When one person carries a project alone, the work depends entirely on that person’s bandwidth on a given week. When the bandwidth runs out, the work stops.
v4. Shared effort. Documented in totality.
Structurally different from the prior three.
The hangar is built. Physically, at a private location, with a spread of vehicles populating it. The bridge superstructure has been color-adjusted. Designs sit on the board for structural reinforcement and added depth. Changes are within design scope amidst a shared vision.
Collaboration is Cool for Creatives
Reach lives over at the social platform; design lives here on the publication side. The physical build progresses on the partner’s bench while design forges forward on mine.
That is the surface-level differentiator. The deeper one is the architecture this project sits inside.
The Architecture That Holds the Work
Project BroadSword sits inside a wider body of work at TheIsaacLester.com, which is the home base for everything I produce across personal development writing, philosophical fiction, music, and the long-horizon vision I am building toward.
Now v1, v2, and v3 were standalone projects and depended only on my capacity to keep showing up week after week. When my capacity went elsewhere, the projects had nothing holding them in place.
v4 sits inside an architecture that holds the work even when I am elsewhere on the schedule. The publication itself is infrastructure now. So is the collaboration with Clone Brick Customs. Beneath both of those, the wider body of work at my Capitol Site is the architecture this all sits inside, and that holds whether I am at the keyboard tonight or three weeks from now. v4 does not depend on a single bandwidth window the way v1 through v3 did.
That is why v4 reads structurally different from the prior three. The project depends on me less, even as my work runs through it more.

How the Publication Reads
Three series carry the work forward.
Where We Started. The chronological walk from v1 onward. Reconstructed from accumulated build documentation. Codifies what worked. Adjusts what did not.
Where We Are Now. The current state of the build: The hangar section groups need minor adjustments, The Bridge superstructure needs a general overhaul. The vehicle spread is in development... What sits in physical reality today, with the design context behind it.
Where We Are Going. Forward design work, Revisions in progress, along with Sections coming next. The honest read of what is on the design board before the physical build catches up.
Reading all three together produces full consensus on the build. Reading any one alone produces a partial picture. The three are designed to interlock.

The Video Series
Beyond the written publication, a video series will carry the build through visual documentation.
The first arc walks the viewer from one end of the bridge superstructure to the other to show length, then up to show height. The second arc rebuilds the structure section by section, layer by layer, with the adjustments we have in mind baked in.
Repeating with the Hangar section group, by the time the rebuild arc completes, the physical model will be ready to receive it.
This is The Rundown. Document forward in design, give the physical build time to catch up, revise where revisions are earned.
